THE TRAMWAY.

TO THK EDITOR OF THE EVENING POST. Sir — Would you kindly permit me to express my thoughts in regard to the present tramway aconamodation Either the manager or tho company is something like the barber who was going to give a man with very thin cheeks a clean shavo. To effect this, the barber had to put his finger in the man's mouth toprpss out his cheek to make a prominent surface, and whilo in the act of doing this, the barber cnt hia finger through the man's cheek. Now, sir, it soems to me that the Tramway Company are trying to make a clean shave, and in doing so they will cut their own fingers, as the passenger traffic from Newtown is falling off. As tho 7.30 tram is 25 minutes in running to Manners-street, the working m»n, who wishes to reach his work at 8 o'clock, has five minutes left in which to walk his mile, or whatever distance he has to go. Now, if anyone with an express, living at Newtown, would leave for his work, say, at 7-30, and pick up passengers at the Newtown Hotel, and then in the evening take them back at a stated time and place, I am euro he would bo well patronised by the Newtown people. I was quite surprised this morning to sco that there wore not more than half of the passengers asleep when we got to Mannersstreet. I atn, &c, , mmmmmmn^______. n ___. Legs.

Jonah was the first conundrum — the whale gavo him up. Sanmon brought down the house, but nobody called for an encore.
