DECEEASE IN THE POPULATION OF IRELAND. THE TEOUBLE IN BULGARIA. THE SULTAN AND ENGLAND. ! KBDTEa'S TELEGRAMS. | London, 21st June. The returns of the census taken on the 3rd of April last show that the population of Ireland haB decreased by 250,000 during the decade. Intelligence is to hand from Bulgaria reporting that a number of the leading Liberals have been arrested en a charge of attacking Prince Alexander and insulting the Govern ment. Per Merchant Shipping and Underwriters' Association :— Arrived — Ship Lady Jocolyn, from Lyttelton (30th March). The ship Handa Isle also arrived at New York this day from Auckland (30th March). Constantinople, 21st June. The Earl of Dufferin, who recently arrived here to fill the post of British Ambassador in snecession to the Eight Hon. G. J. Gosohen, had au audience to-day of the Sultan. His Majesty, in the course of the interview, made mo3t cordial references to the ancient friendship between Kngland and Turkey, and expressed the hope that the same would continue.
