At the time of the accident, the P»keb» wa? bound from Kaipara to Dunedin with cargo, the bulk being timber for the ownera. It was insured in tho Viotoria ofuoa for
iBIOOO, half of whioh is covered by reinsurance in the National. The latter office covers half its lops by re-insurance for JJ2SO with the New Zealand Company. The vessel was valued at .£I3OO, and formerly belonged to Captain Poter-jon, of Dunedin. She was of 174 tons register. Captain Boer, the irarter, was married, and leaves a wife but no children. The first officer was unmarried. Before she left port on her last trip, Messrs. Finrilay and Co. spent nearly in putting the vessel in repair.
