THE GOVERNMENT AND THE IRISH LAND BILL. THE TURCO-GREEK QUESTION. I&iutbb's tslxobah.J London, 16th May. In the House of Commons this evening the consideration of the Irish Land Bill was resumed. In the course of the debate the Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone made a speech, in which he said the Government attached Its fortunes to the Bill, and would strenuously oppose any amendment which might be proposed affecting the principles of the measure as introduced. Consols remain at 102|. New Zealand five per cent. 10-40 loan, 104fc ; New Zealand five per cent. 1889 loan, 101, ex div. ; New Zealand four and a-half per cent. 1879-1901 loan, 101*. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 475 ; New Zealand wheat, 449 : Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 335. Australian tallow— best beef, 34s 6d ; best mutton, 365. At the wool sale to-day 10,000 bales were offered, and there was a good demand. Per Merchant Shipping and Underwriters' Association : — Arrived— Ship Waimate, from Lyttelton (19th February). Constantinople, 16th May. The Ambassadors of the Powers have had under consideration the conditions now placed by the Porte upon the proposed transfer of territory in Thessaly and Epirus to Greece. After deliberation, the Ambassadors have unanimously decided to reject the stipulations of the Porte, and the hitter has been urged to withdraw them. St. Petebsbubo, 16th May. General Ignatieff has been appointed Russian Minister of the Interior, in place of General Loris Melikoff, resigned.
