(Before Mr. Edward Shaw, E.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Thomas Williams, who mado hia roappearanoe in Court after an interval of two years, was discharged with a caatiOn. Emma Bnllock, alias Savroy, for drunkenness, was fined ss. VAGRANCY. Martha Brown, who, it was stated, had been previously convicted of drunkenness, wilfully damaging property, and being illegally on promises, was brought up on a charge of vagrancy. Constable Laurie doposed that the prisoner was in tho habit of goinjr tho rounds of tho brothels in tho city, obtaining a night's Bleep where she could. She was sentenced to fourteen days' hard labor. A PROSTITUTE AND ITICR CHILDREN. William and Samuel Shepherd, aged 7 and 5 years respectively, were brought up under the Neglected and Criminal Ohildron Act. Tho evidence tended to show that thoir mother kept a house of ill-famo m Pipitoa street, where the lads rosided. Their father was at present in Lyttolton. having lived apart from his wife for the last fifteen months. The mother appeared in Court, and stated that tho elder k boy weht to school regularly, but the lad doniod this. Bho added that her relatives belonged to Lyttolton, and would take care of > the ohildron if asked to do so. The Magistrate accordingly adjourned tho case for a[ week to enable arrangements to be madet with a view of their being sent toJE##teltonv "JACK" IN TROtJßiit. Frederick Cover, a Beatnan belonging to H.M.S. Wolverene, who'appearod in answer to charges of being drunk and disorderly and using obscene language in Featherston-streot last night, was handed over to an officer connected with the vessel.
