THE EASTER ENCAMPMENT AT NELSON.

Major Pitt, the officer commanding the Nelson volunteers, has addressed a letter to Sergt.-Major Loveday, of the Wellington Guards, relative to the coming encampment. Ho states that the Wellington volunteers will form a distinct regiment or battalion in camp, separate from the Nelson volunteers, and under their own officers. Major-General Davidson will review the force. There would be plenty to do for everybody, and those who imagined they were going to a sort of picnic would find out their mistake. They were going to a camp of instruction, where amusement would have to give place to duty. The programme of proceedings is as follows : —The Nelson men will proceed to Brightwater on Thursday at 8 p.m., and on arrival in camp, quarter and rearguards will be mounted. The quarter guard will consist of one officer, one sergeant, two corporals, one bugler, and eighteen men by night ; and one sergeant, one corporal, one bugler, and nine men by day. The rear guard will consist of one sergeant, one corporal, and n'no men by night ; and one corporal and three men by day. The daily details of duly will be as follows : — Reveille, 6 a.m. ; parade, 7 ; breakfast, 8 ; orderly-room, 9.30 ; parade, 11 ; dinner, 1 p.m.; parade, 3; retreat, sunset; tea, 6 p.m. ; tattoo (first post), 9 30 ; tattoo (last post), ]0: light out, 10.15. Night guards will mount at retreat, and be relieved by day guard at reveille. The night guards will be paraded and inspected by the camp adjutant; the day guards by the captain of the day. Subaltern of the day to attend guard, mounting morning and evening. Officers and non-commissioned officers commence at reveille, and continue till reveille next day — 1 captain, 1 subaltern, 1 battalion orderly sergeant, 1 ditto corporal, and an orderly sergeant and orderly corporal for each corps. The alarm post will be the general parade ground in front of the camp, every man to fall in on the 1% assembly" sounding by day or night. " Marching-in states" to be furnished by the officer commanding each corps, showing on the back the names and dates of commission of all officers, and name 3 and dates of appointment of all non-commissioned officers, including lance-corporals. Undress uniforms to be worn on all duties unless otherwise ordered. Tho early morning parades will be under the officers commanding the various corps. The parades at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. will be for battalion drill and field movements. There will be a fu'l-dres3 church parade on Sunday, tho 17t.1i April, at 10.30. On the following day battalion parade at 7 a.m. ; inspection and review by Major-General Davidson at 2 p.m., tea at 4 p m., and strike tents, return stores, and leave for Nelson by train at 6.30 p.m.
