JDNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. | Auckland, Bth April. The Chamber of Commerce and Auckland Sharebrokers' Association have cabled to London that the Haven Gold-mining Company have no land a3 indicated' on their plan, the ground marked being worked by other companies. The goldfields officials deny all knowledge of any property held under that name. The greater portion of the property waa recently sold by E. Comer to the Southern Cross Company. Some light has been thrown on the matter from the fact that about two months ago Brodie (chairman of the Thames County Council) received a cablegram from a Mr. Harvey, London, enquiring what right a Mr. Eicke had in property adjoining Haven-street, and who could grant power to mine. This was dated 31st January. Mr. Brodie replied that Eicke had sold his rights to Thomas Russell, and that the warden waa the person who granted permission to mine. Harvey is supposed to be the leading London broker. The association here have received mem-'S. from Mining Inspector Clark, of the Warden's office, and from Mr. Comer upon the Bubj-ct. lhe report characterises the whole affair as a *' bare-faced swindle."
