The horses were got well away together after one false start, Libeller showing at once 1o the front, with Opawa slightly in advance of the others. Endymion passed Opawa before reaching the hill and made an effort to make the acquaintance of the favorite King Quail came away at a rattling pace, and quickly headed Opawa. In going tip the hill, Libeller passed Dan and led by half a length, bnt King Quail came up in splendid form, and soon put Dan out of the question. Opawa a?ain showed up, and the race now lay between Opawa, King Quail, and Libeller. Tne straight was entered with Libeller load* ing a length in front of King Quail. The last-named catno in first amid great excitement, with two and a half lengths to spare ; Opawa second, and Libeller third. Ladiks' Purse, 40 soys ; 1J miles and a distance. Billingsgato, list „ 1 Hailstorm, list 21b 2 Morning Star, list 21b 3 Only three started. .£l2O in the totalisatoc, £69 being ou the wiuner. Billingsgato won by a length, hard held.
