THE GREEK PRESS AND THE PORTE'S PROPOSALS. [ REUTER'S TELEGRAMS.] London, 30th March.
The editor of the German Socialist organ, Die Freiheit, which is to be prosecuted for eulogising the murder of the Czar, has bee arrested on a warrant issued under the prose ¦ cution. A bulletin issued thia morning regarding the health of Lord Beaconsfield, reports that he ha 3 Buffered a relapse, and is now in a critical state. Much anxiety is felt throughout the country in regard to his lordship's illness. Consols are unchanged at par. Five per cent. New Zealand 10-40 loan, 102£. Five per cent. 1889 loan, 105, ex dividend. Australian tallow has advanced Cd per cwt., and quotations to-day aro — For best beef, 33s 6d ; and for best mutton, 36s 6d. Australian and New Zealand breadstuffs are without qpotable change. Athens, 30th March. The Greek Press to-day, in discussing the proposals made by the Porte for the settlement of the frontier question, utterly repudiates any obligation on the part of Greece to accept the terms offered by Turkey, and urges a firm refusal of the fame.
