THE WEST COAST BAILWAY.
• It is notified that a special meeting of the directors of the proposed Wellington and Manawatu Bailway Company will be held on Monday next, to consider some important business, the naturt of which is not yet disclosed. We hope that there will be a large and influential, attendance of the directors, and that the result of the meeting may be in every way satisfactory as favouring the prosecution of this undertaking, whioh is fraught with such momentous consequences to Wellington. We entreat the promoters of this great work to lay aside all personal and political differences, all dissensions on matters of detail regarding route or terminus, and everything but the one consideration—how this important work can best be furthered. That is the duty of all who have the interests of this city and district at heart, and we, therefore, trust that it will be agreed to leave all question of route and other details to be subsequently settled, and to devote all present exertions to the promotion of the undertaking as a whole.
