According to the evidence,, some of the Brahmins implicated wbtb to 'work certain charms • in the Temples, -ani upon Orders ' given by the leaders a body of men were "-tp attack the Europeans while attending service in the churoh'. The plans of the ringleaders were a strange medley; sensible in some respeotß, but curiously foolish in many of the details. They had arranged to cut ■ the telegraph wires, and to proteot from loot some buried treasures which the Bvahmins expected to find by means of their charms. A man was obtained to personate the deposed. JBajakdn, hia alleged return to exile. As the incantations to find the buriea treasure failed, dacoities were substituted in orde* to raise irioney. An accident twioe averted a massacre of Europeans. There ia no leader of mark engaged in the affair.
