Enyß, F.G.S., Canterbury, for catalogue of New Zealand butterflies ; Proprietors Times, Christchurch, for specimens of lithography ; J. A. Packer, Nelson, for artificial leg; James Robin and Co., Dunedin, for landau. Honorable mention — W. Moor and Sons, Christchurch, for brougham. Stdwbt, Bth March. The Executive have decided tfcat the sentence of death passed upon William Brown, a farmer in the Manning District, for criminal 7 assaulting bis daughter, 12 years of age, shall be carried out. The cricket match between the Australian Eleven and the combined team of New South Wales and Victoria, was resumed {to-day. The Australians were all disposed of for 85 runs in their second innings, Murdoch, not out, 31, and M'Donnell, caueht, 18, being top scorers Ihe combined team thus won the match by 216 runs. A severe hailstorm fell daring the adjournment for luncheon, and rendered the ground very dead. Sailed — Hero, for Auckland. j Nearly 100 men of the Permanent Artillery force here have volunteered to proceed for service against tho Boers.
