THE TERAWHITI REEFS.
There teems to be every intention on tho part of a considerable section of the community to give the reefs at Torawhiti a fair trial. In addition to the Phoenix and Albion Companies, which have been some time in process of formation, a new company has been initiated, to be called the "Wellington" Company, and the promoters hare obtained tho lease of ten acres to be pegged off on the north or south side of the Albion, as may be determined by the action of the Phosnix Company. Then a fourth company has ootno to light— the Ohau— at a preliminary meeting of which it was last night decided, we believe, to take up ground along -the line of reef recently discovered by the pawa shell fishers at Ohau Bay. Other parties are, we understand, negotiating for leases along the same line of reef. The Albion Company were to peg off their 32 acres to-day, the trustee of the land having decided to give no farther extension of time. The Wellington Company will peg off their 10 acres on Monday, and several men will be placed upon the land at once to prospect. The Phoenix Company will also peg off their 16* acres adjoining tho Albion on Monday. The Ohau promoters held another meeting this morning. About twenty gentlemen were present, including Messrs. M'Manaman and Mowbray. The meeting was a private one.
