THE LAND SALE AT HAWERA. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Haweba, 25th February. There was a good attendance at the land sale. All the rural land, except one section, „was sold. The bidding was not so spirited as at previous sales, but several sections went considerably over the upset price. There was not much demand ior Manaia Town sections, but the suburban sections were keenly competed for, and fetched a good deal more than the upset price. On the contrary, suburban sections at Opunake were not much sought after, as they are supposed to be swampy. There was good bidding for several town sections, and some realised nearly £50 each.
