OBSCENITY. Elizabeth Oakes, for making use of dia gustingly obscene language, was fined £L in default 48 hours' imprisonment. , CHIMNEY ON FIRB. ' - . Benjamin Sparkes, on remand, was charged with allowing his chimney to catch fire, and the case was further adjourned till tomorrow. ALLIGKED ASSAULT. Salvatore Cemino, publican, on remand, was charged with having assaulted Frederick Abbot Duncan. The case was dismissed, and the complainant said he would " appeal to a higher Court." (Loud laughter.) CHARGE OF STEALING MONET. Edward Tobin, charged with stealing £3 odd belonging to Francis Montgomery Shaw, was remanded till Friday morning, having been arrested only this morning. ALLEGXD WIFE DESERTION. James Alexander Gough denied a charge of having deserted his wife and four children. It appeared the defendant left home a few days ago to do some work up country. His wife, hearing nothing as to his whereabouts, obtained a warrant for his arrest, but the defendant returned home last night. He was therefore discharged.
