THTS DAY.
The Council met at 9 o'clock. Miscellaneous business for ' ' the good of the Order was considered. Eesolutions were passed appointing the Temperance Herald the official organ of the Order, and recommending it to the support of the members, urging upon_ all members the necessity of united political action in the temperance cause. Correspondence was read from the Registrar's department on the subject of the law relating to friendly societies. Jt wa3 resolved that the Council make no recommendation for any change in the law. A report from Bro. Smith, who represented the Order at the International Conference in Melbourne, was received. Bro. Hall was appointed District Superintendent of the Juvenile Branch. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officers ; to Bros. Edwards, (Levite) and Grant (assistant secretary) ; to the brothers, sisters, and other friends in Wellington who had so hospitably entertertained the representatives ; and to the Press for kindly reporting the proceedings of the Council. The new-elected officers having been duly installed, the Council was closed by an address from the new D.C.E. The representatives proceeded to the Hutt this afternoon for a picnic, and to-morrow evening will attend Mr. Angelo Forrest's organ recital in the Wesleyan Church,
