SUDDEN DEATH AT HOROKIWI HILL.
? ¦ — An inquest was held by Dr Wilford yesterday afternoon on the body of a man named Ejbert Brundle, a laborer, aged 50, who was found dead at tie residence of Mr. Alfred Clark, Horokiwi Hill, on Sunday morning lust. It appears the deceased had been ailing' for toma time past, Mr.* dark, i with^ whom he resided, had freqnently advised 1 him to consult a doctor, or seek admission into the Hospital, but this he persistently refused to do. On Saturday night he seemed much better, and, after partaking of a very
hearty tea, went to bed about 9 o'clock, At 2 a.m. Mr. Clark was awakened by hearing him fall out of bed. On repairing to his room, he found Brnndle lying on his face on the floor. Clark asked him if ho "felt all right," npon which th<i other replied in the affirmative, and was lifted into bed again. In a short time he seemed to fall asleep, and Clark left the room, but on returning three or four hours later discovered that Brundle was dead. At the inquest it transpired that the deceased, who had spent most of his time at sea, had been a very heavy drinker. He had no relatives in the colony. Dr. Tripe made the usual post mortem examination, and in accordance with his testimony the jury returned a verdict to the effect that death resulted from heart disease.
