At the Warden's Court at Collingwood, Arkell and party applied for a lease adjoining the prospectors' area at Mount Arthur, and after objections by James byrne, who had pegged out portions of the land applied for, the Warden granted the application, the lease to be re - surveyed. A similar application was made by the Panama Company, Byrne again raising objections, but their lease was granted. Litigation now being ended, the Mount Arthur reefs will be thoroughly tested, the la»t named company especially being determined to push on the work. Dr. Hector's report on stone from this reef gives over 14 ounces of gold to the ton.
