The results of the College scholarships and competition for Sir Julius Vogel's prizes, at the examination of boys of the j public schools, are just known. The town scholarships were won by J. Barlchop, with 489 marks, and W. Rose, with 429 marks, out of a possible 600 ; the country scholarships by Hodgson, of Wakefield, 438 marks, and John Ferry, of Westport, 436 marks. Tho Vogel prizes were won by A. Ledger, of Eiwaka, with 381 marks, and George Stone, of Nelson, with 372 marks. A fatal accident has occurred at Riwaka, a child, named Cederman, being killed by the body of a wagon falling on him- whilst playing in a shed. Auckland, 20th January. She refused to accept the offer, but wanted the money. Duff was sentenoed, by Mr. Barstow, R.M., to a months imprisonment. His wife and family m4&nwhile are unprovided for.
