The case for the proso-' 1 oution has closed, and the addresses of j counsel for the defence are now being heard. j The debate on the Address in Beply was 3 resumed in the House of Commons to-day, and lasted during the greater part of the 1 sitting. Lord Hartington made an exhaus- | tive speech, in the course of which he t severely attacked the Irish Land League 3 and its mode of action. Alluding to the L " Land Bill which has been introduced by the 3 Government, he expressed the opinion that i its provisions were founded on tho lines of 3 justice to both tenant and landlord. The debate stands further adjourned. 3 Capetown, 12th January. , Communication, though of an intermittent character, has againbeen established between Natal and the Transvaal, and information has been received regarding the position of ' T the British troops at Potschefstroom.
