In the course of recent proceedings at the Lyttelton Police Court, the Resident Magistrate remarked that the cab traffic at the Christchurch railway station was conducted in a manner that was highly satisfactory. The defendant in the case under investigation was a cabman, and evidently he had not caught the tenor of the observation, for, in an expostulatory tone, he exclaimed, " Well, that's not our fault, your Worship. ' ' When the laughter had' subsided, his Worship quietly replied, " I know it ia not."
