LATEST PAETICULARS. Hawera, This Day.
It is understood that the Coroner has sent to the Minister of Justico to know whether Tuhi could not be sent to New Plymouth in the Hinemotv, otherwise ho will go nnder a strong escort of not lesß than twenty men. Eona and the other Maoris, who gave strong evidence against Tuhi, were influenced by the feeling that his crime had been committed on their ground. They thought if the prisoner wished to kill a pakeha he ought to have gone into his own district, and wore angry at him. Tuhi is the eon of a Maori known as Old Whari, or Whara, living between here and Hawera. It is said that his father is suspected of hiring murdered two sawyers in 1869. Tunis mother is one of the handsomestMaori women on tho coast, and the murderer inherits her good looks and grand physique. 1 No motives for crime have yet been assigned. >
