STRANGE AFFAIR AT DUNEDIN. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, This Day.

A strange affair is being inquired into by the police. This morning, on the Southern Recreation, were found a woman's dress, brooch and earrings, and a letter, signed "Mary Prescott." The letter is addressed to her family, and the writer says that in consequence of her friends having been false to her, Bhe intends doing away with herself. The things were found alongside the water's edge, and have pince been identified as belonging to a girl named Mary Prescott, aged 20, who recently quarrelled with her lover, and threatened to commit suicide. Tho police aro now investigating whether tho affair ia a hoax or not.
