EESXJLT OF THE FIRST DAY'S PLAY. A BIG SCOEE BY THE ENGLISH TEAM. IbSutSr'jb xfetJsdßAltS.J London, 6th September. The match between the All-England Eleven and the Australians was commenced to-day. The Home team went in first to the wickets, and when the stamps were drawn for the day had lost eight wickets for 410 runs. Mr. W. G. Grace scored 152. The attendance was very large. The fielding of the Australians was excellent, and the weather throughout the day was very fine. A capital wioket was pitched, and the ground was m good order. Spofforth was absent.
