VITAL STATISTIC FOR FEBRUARY.

? The Registrar-General's Vital Statistics of New Zealand for the month of February, 1880, are as follow :—

One octagenarian (aged 83) died at .Auckland. Seven "violent" deaths occurred, 1 being homicidal, .2 suicidal, and 4 accidental. Christehureh had the highest average mortality, but Wellington the largest number of deaths from zymotic diseases, viz., 20, all being from diarrhoea or dysentery, another, proof of the bad sanitary condition of the city. _
