The Sydney Morning' Herald, in a report of the exhibition, notices two works of art by Mr. C. D. Barraud, of Wellington, but considers that they want in finish. It also comments on the cement composition of Mr. Charles Q'Neil, Wellington, and notices a picture by Mr. IT. E. de B. Brandon as being noticeable for taste and finish. The following prizes have been awarded : — New Zealand manufactures— Plant, Thames, Ist class ; G. Boyne, Auckland, 2nd. ; Austin and Kirk, Christohurch, 3rd clas3. Minerals — H. D. Jackson, Nelson, Ist class. Beef and alluvial gold— Bank of New Zealand, 2nd class. Copper ores — D'Urville Island Copper Mining Company, 2nd class. Zinc — Johnson Bros., Nelson, 3rd class. Chromium — J. R. Hackett. Iron — Hematite Paint Company', Nelson, 3rd class. Geological collection —
Dr. Hector, Ist class. Marbles and serpentine — J. Munro, Dunedin, Ist class ; Canterbury Marble Company, 3rd class. Building stone of NewZealand—OamaruStoneCompany, Oamaru, Ist class ; W.
