HOKITIKA. 21st November.
Mr. M'Lean Watt Jack and the present Mayor, Mr. F. A. Learmouth, were nominated for the Hokitika Mayoralty. The polling will be on Wednesday next. For the Mayoralty of Eoss there were two nominations, Mr. Joseph Grimwood, the present Mayor, and Mr. Joseph Josephs. The election takes place on the 26th instant. A cake of amalgam, weighing- 3681b, was brought to town last night from the Mount Eangitoto silver mine ; this being the first that has been received, and when it is considered that the amalgamation machine only left Hokitika for the mine on Saturday week last, it must be taken as a gratifying result.
