Hennessy s case brandy, 32s to 325. Sd.; New Zealand wheat, 4s 3d. ; oats, 2s. 6d. No change in other lines. Adblaidb, 4th July. Flour, £4 10s. to £4 15s. (?) Melbourne, 4th July. The revenue for the past quarter amounts to £1,072,583 being a decrease of £7737 on the corresponding quarter of last year. The revenue during the year amounts to £4,525,998, being an increase on the year of £40,587. There wai an excess in the Land Tax of £152,377 on the previous year. There was a decrease in the Customs' receipts of £103,825, whilst on the Railways there was an increase of £19,000 The estimated expenditure for the past year was £4,840,000. It is thought that the sum of £300 000 will be provided by means of new duties — probably an increase in the Customs' duties, by excise, and by a stamp duty. This Day. The Age this morning publishes an article recommending the Government to meet the deficiency iv the revenue by the following additional taxation : — £80,000 on spirits; £50,000 on tobacco and cigars; £50,000 on colonial and foreign beer; £80,000 on luxuries; £140,000 on stamps.
