WELLINGTON DISTRICT HIGHWAY BOARD.

A meeting of the Wellington District Highway Board was held at their office at the Hutt yesterday. Present— Mr. Thoma3 Mason (in chair), Mc3srs. Taylor, Speedy, Dick, Smith, and Morgan. The resolution passed on the 4th June la9t, giving notico of the intention to levy a rate, to become due and payable on and after the Ist August, wa« rescinded, and a resolution was carried— "That it is the intention of the Board, at its next meeting to be held on the 6th August next, to levy a rate of Is In the £ for the year ending 30th June, 1880, payable in one instalment, on after the Ist day of October next. , . , The overseer was instructed to take measures to remove tbe furze which is encroaching upon tbe road leading to the Tawa Flat School ; and it was resolved that the ?oad leading to the schoolhouse be repaired. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £189 lls. od. The overseer read the following report on the cost of repairs of roadj within the district for tbe year endeS 30th June, 1879 :— No! 1 Ward.-Ohariu road, £139; Old Porirua road, £43; Horikiwi District road, £116; Wadestown roads, £61 ; Upper Tukapu, £25j Lower Tukapu, £i 2; Stebbine's road, £9. No 2 Ward.— Pahautanui Small Farm road, £159; Belmont to Hutt. £28. No. 8 Ward.— Western Hutt road, £216; Belmont road, £105; Chapman's road, £3. No. 4 Ward.— Wainul Valley road, £65. No. 5 Ward.— Waiwetu roads, £123; Waiaui Hill road, £74. No. 6 Ward — Mungaioa and Whi eman's Valley roads, £197; Stokes' Valley read, £38.
