CITY COUNCIL.

The Public Works Committee's report, which will be presented at to-night's meeting of the City Council, is as follows :— ln reference to the four tenders which have been thrown up by the tenderers in consequence of a misapprehension of the terms of the ftpeclfication-< f the Committee recommend that in all the cases the deposits be returned ; that fresh tenders ba called for the formation, See , of Ingestre-street, and Upper Willis-street. That W. Stracban's tender for Wordsworth-street be accepted, and failing him, J. Saundera'. /That J. Coleraau's tender for Hopper-street and Webb-street be accepted. That M'Coll and Co.'s tender lor Thorndon Quay, from DaTis-stre«it to the city boundary, be accepted, and tbat failing any or all of these fresh tenders be called for respectively. Tenders will be opened for the formation and metalling of portions of Adelaide and Tinakori ruads. The notices of motion givpn by Councillors Allen (relative to widening Manners-street and Cuba-street;, and Fisher (relative to a new loan for v/aterworks extension), will be dig. cussed.
