MR. WYBERT REEVE AT THE THEATRE ROYAL.
? There was a good house at the Theatre Royal last night, on the occasion of the first appearance of Mr. Wybert Kteve, an English actor of considerable ability. The piece selected for representation was a play written by Mr. Reeve himself, entitled '• George Geith, or the Romance of a City Life." The plot is one of considerable interest, and the acting of the principal characters was exceedingly good. Claiming foremost mention, of course, was Mr. Keeve's George Geiih, which was really a finished aod ab.e exhibition of dramatic power. The character was invested with much force and quiet diginity, without being in any way strained or exaggerated Miss Beatrice, as Beryl Malozone, placed with much tenderness and expression. Mr. D'Orsay . Ogden, as Dick Elsenham, was hardly in hi j
element, the vein of humor which he possesses being of a totally different character from that required to give effect to the io!e. Mr J. G. Joyce and Mr. Hairy lianiels, as Mr. Tillett, the lawyer, and Mr. Bemmidge, the gotduatured friend, sustained their parts with much naturalness. The piece was frequently applauded, and on more than one occasion the principal perfjrmers were honored with a rcc»Jl. The play is to be repeated to-night.
