Southern Gross, from Auckland via East Coast ports arrived in oar harbor at 4 ¦o'olock this morning from Napier, which tiort she l«f ton Monday at 4.30 pan. ; experienced wery heavy sea and southerly wind. She sailed Bouth this afternoon. Tbe 8.8. Taiaroa left Nelson at 12.45 p.m. yesterday, and Piotoa at 10.30 last night, arriving here this morning early. She leaves for northern porto to-morrow. The p.*. Wallace left Nelson at 6.30 last evenIng, lan* arrived here at 7.30 this morning. She returns to Nelson this evening. The ss. Arawata, from Melbourne via the Boutb, will arrive in Wellington a day earlier than we anticipated. She will be here tomorrow morning. The steamers Napier and Lyttelton retain to Blenheim this evening. The Napier, which arrived from Blenheim yesterday afternoon, reports several Bailing craft in the Strait, bat none of them appeared to be making for Wellington. The Government steamer Hinemoa, from Aaokland and Tauranga, will arrive in Wellington to-morrow. Mr. Ellftby cleared the schooner Owake for the Manukau thia afternoon, As the Manawatu only crossed the Wanganui Bar this morning she will not arrive until to-night. The Stormbird and Tui should be Hi to-night from Foxton.
