STEAMER ASHORE AT WANGANUI. (PROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) [BY TELEGRAPH.] Wanganui, This DaY, 11 a.m.
A report was sent in from the Heads this morning that a small steamer had (rone ashore j there, and was bumping very heavily. The vessel is supposed to be the s.s. Patea, Captain Gibbons, from Patea. The p.s. Mantwatu has just gone down to her assistance. We are indebted to Mr. R. B. Wallace for the following telegram :— The steamer Patea and brig Anne are ashore on the north «pit of the Wanganui bar. The steamer Manawatu has gone down to their assistance.
