INVERCARGILL. 20th June.

Bennett, the bankrupt, applied for his discharge in the District Court to-day, aod met with little favor from the Bench. An order to withhold it for three years was made; the bankrupt to be prosecuted for concealment under the Fraudulent Debtors Act. Mr. Matbewß, solicitor for tbe debtor, thought tbe bankrupt was sufficiently punished ; but Judge Harvey wag sternly inexorably and said be considered it was a public duty on the pirt of creditors to prosecute. The decision is much commented on here, as it is acknowledged on all bands tbat the law is being degraded by a certain clan of bankrupts.
