WRITTEN TENDERS will be received for cutting Totara Sleepers, with the right of cutting other timber, out of a Government reserve of 470 acres, more or less, in the Manawatu District, to which the Government are now constructing a branch railway from the main line, about 155 chains long, for the purposes of this contract. General conditions, specifications, &c, may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Auckland, Foxton, Wanganui, and Wellington, [where] also tenders are to be lodged until noon of Saturday, the 21st June, 1879, accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged ; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for one month, and to be in favor of the Receiver-General's Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order. The land in this reserve, after the above contract is finished, will revert to the Feilding Corporation, who will then have power to deal with it as with their other lands. The attention of intending contractors is specially drawn to this cir* oumstance, as they might thus be enabled to acquire and settle on the land after the completion of their contract. Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any Telegraph Office by noon of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at any of the above-named offices by the same hour, and accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where tne tender is lodged ; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for 21 days, and to be in favor of the Receiver-Gene-ral's Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order.
