FOXTON. Ist April.

A European and several natives have been fined 40s and 30j each by the Native Committee for breaches of the Native Licensing Act. The Government decline to hand over the Foxton wharf (as an endowment to the Harbor Board, which is utterly destitute. There are numerous enquiries as to when Mr. Walter Johnston is coming to address his constituents. A survey party engaged up the Manawatu river on trig work, under Mr. James Baker, have been stopped by Maoris, who threatened to throw the instruments into the rirer. Mr. Baker has telegraphed to the Native Department.
