TARANAKI RACES. (FSB PRESS AGKNOY.) Nb~w Plymouth, 31st March.
It was showery weather for the races to-day, and the attendance was not equal to the previous meeting. The following are the various events :— Maiden Plate.— Maid of Honor, 1 ; Snowstorm, 2. Autumn Handicap. — Otawa, 1 ; Peep o* Day, 2: Venus Transit, 3 Six hones ran. Handicap Steeplechase.— Billy, 1 ; Victor, 2; Awabau, 3 Six hones ran. Inkeepen' Parse.— Resolution, 1 ; Otawa, 2; Expectation. 3. Isaak Walton also ran. Flyiog Handicap. — Isaak Wilton, 1 ; Slander colt, 2; Peep o' Day, 3. Seven horses ran. Forced Handicap.— Expectation, I j Venus Transit, 2 ; Peep o' Day, 3. In the Hack Hurdles the jockey of CopeStake fell at the first hurdle and received sever* iDjuries. lie is still unconseiflui. In the Hack Race, jr ung Quinlivan struck his head against a post, breaking the post in pieces. A little life was still visible in him it 5 o'clock. . I
