BLENHEIM. 13th January.
P. Lawrence, a merchant of Blenheim,- has offend £100, in addition to £200 offend by the Government and £300 expected from tbe Insurance Offices, for such evidence as will lead to the conviction of tbe person or persons supposed to have set fire to the Government Buildings at Blenheim in 1876. Many rumors are afloat. It is said one of the culprits lias made a fall confession, sod that particulars will be disclosed shortly. 14th January. The incendiary fire which occurred in 1876 is still attracting the attention of Government. To-day the town is placarded with bills announcing a Government reward of £200 on the conviction of the person who set fire to these buildings in that year. The Insurance Associated Ofiices offer a reward of £250 ; Mr. P. Lawrence offers a reward of £100 ; another settler offers a reward cf £150, making in all a total of £700. There is a good deal of excitement in tbe town about these rewards, which it is hoped will have the desired effect.
