The Caledonian »ports to-day were again largely attended. In the wrestling match Tyson, the present holder of the champion belt, again beat Thomas. Tbe latter succeeded in throwing Tyson, and was loudly cheered. TLe contest will be continued on Saturday. The successful winners in Drake and Collins* consultation are :— Wellington, Thomas Dryden, Dunedin; Warlock, J. Abrahams, Dunedin ; Bosworth, J. Taylor, Port Chalmers. The vital statistics for the Dunedin District for the year 1878 are as follows :— Births, 1804} deaths, 517 ; marriages, 418. The Waitahuna races took place yesterday. The Maiden Plate was won by Dff»yer'« Norafa, the Publicans' Handicap by DwayetV Heman, the Town Plate by Dwayer*s Gtat~ garry. Two sailing boats ran into each other in the' harbor yesterday, about a quarter of a mile from Rothesay. One of them was manned by a number of young men, and in the other were two men and two women. The boat in which the women were was upset, and they were thrown into the water, but were pulled aboard the other boat, and had scarcely got in when the capsized boat foundered. Eventually the whole party reached the shore in safety.
