SETTLEMENT OF THE ANTI-CHINESE STRIKE.
TERMS OF ARRANGEMENT. Stdnby, 3rd January. The great anti-Chinese strike has been settled at last, through Mr. Lockhead. The terms of the arrangement, which has been agreed to by the Directors of the Australian Steam Navigation Company on the one hand and the malcontent seamen on the other, are as follows :— (1.) All the men are to return, so far as possible, to their former positions In Ihe service of the Company. (2.) The Company are to retain the services of 180 Chinese, which number is to be reduced to 120 within a period of three months from the Ist January, 1870. (4.) All wages due on 18th November to the men who were on strike to be paid in full by the Company. (5.) Ships' discharges in tbe customary form to be given in all cases where ' it may be found necessary. An agreement embodying these terms has been formally ratified by the representatives on both sides* and the men will return to work immediately.
