A " kid glove " encounter is to take placo this evening at Melbourne, between Foley, of Sydney, and Newton, of Melbourne, for the Championship and £150 a side. Great anxiety is felt about the stoamor You Yangs, bound from Brisbane to Sydney. Sho has a large number of passengers, and is long overdue, while she is not reported anywhere on the coast. Very serious apprehensions aro entertained for her safety. In their second innings the Australian representative eleven lost one wicket for 52 runs. Bannerman scored 24 ; Blackham, 24 ; Horan, 56; Gregory, 24 j Gairett, 12 j Boyle, 38; Murdoch, 40. The first wicket fell for 52 runs, the fifth for 160 ; the seventh for 248 aud the inuings concluded for 254; the New South Wales fifteen thus winning in one innings, with 15 runs over. Spofforth was too ill to play in tho second innings, and no substitute was provided for Bailey, who had broken his arm.
