LONDON. 2nd December.

A severe engagement has taken placo at Periwar between tho British and Afghan fores. The British troops were very hardly pressed at first, aud were driven bodily back, being compelled to make a partial retreat. They soon rallied, however, aud returned gallantly to the charge. After bouie desperate fighting tho British forces ultimately were completely victorious, the Afghans being defeated with heavy loss. The Internationalists are becoming very active. Au attempt has been made to assassinate Hcrr Tisza, tho Hungarian Treasurer, at tho j Convocation of delegates at Pesth.
