"Pegasus" furnishes the Star with a racing statistics of 1877, and they show an increase last year of 32 meetings and £5003 in stakes. Otago gave £8240; Canterbury, £6190; Auckland, £6097; Wellington, £4320; Napier, £1685. Mr. Ray is credited with winning £2490; Mr. Redwool, £2041; Mr. Walters, £1460; Mr. Stead, £1332; Mr. M'Gee, £1297; Mr. Farmer, £885; Mr. Lunn, £825; Mr. O'Brien, £582. Temoleton heads the best list of winners, with £1510; Ariel, £1236; Trump Card, £1142. Of winning sires Traducer again heads the list, with over £10,000 to his credit, of which amount the fifteen «ins and daughters of his in the above won £6698, the remainder being earned by innumerable smaller winners. Dainty Ariel is again second, but a long way off, with £3500. The defunct Towton has had only £1800 won by bis descendants, while Ravensworth, who was high up the previous year, bad no winner of importance last season. Dead Shot, who promised well as a sire, but who unfortunately died a few months ago, was represented by Mata and Chokebore, who won £865 between them.
