Twenty arrest of land iv the North-Uaat Valley have been purchased by Captain Baldwin . for. £9720, being the highest price hitherto paid here for suburban land. The half -yearly meeting of the shareholders of the Standard Insurance Company was held to-day, when the report and balance-sheet were adopted, and a dividend of ten per cent was declared. The chairman and other share,holders.s.poke hopefully of. the present and future prospects of tbe company.
