Thore is very little business doing in grain at present. Millers refuse to give more than 4s, and the farmers are not satisfied with this price, and are holding back in expectation of obtaining is 3d to 4s 6d; oats, 3a to 3s 3d; barley, nominal ; flour, £11 10s to £12 ; oatmeal, £B ; pearl barley, £20 ; pollard, £5 ; bran, £4. Chbistchtjbch, 15th March. Wheat is firm at 5b ; oats, 3s to 3s 3d; barley, 4s 6d to Ss ; flour, £13 to £14 ; bran, £4 10s ; sharps, £5 10s ; cheese, GJd. 1 The* Customs duties collected here from the 31st December to date, amount to £58,703 14s Bd. The duties collected to-day was £4088 4s lid, £2148 of which was paid by Messrs. P. Canningham and Co. on 300 bales of sacks from Calcutta. Iho total imports of sacks from Calcutta for the season amount to over 9000 bales to Lyttelton direct. TnrAßtr. 16th March. Grain market active during the week, and large quantities arriving in town for export. Wheat is firmer than last quotations— 4s 3d for beat milling, other kinds ranging from 3s lOd up to that figure; oats, 2s 9d to 2s 3d; -barley nominal. The general quality of grain is superior.
