THE MUNICIPAL "POSITION."

Councillor Fisher hns given notice of his intention to move tho following motions at the next meeting of the City Council : — That, in accordance with the powers conferred by section 3 of the Municipal Corporations Act, a special rate of Is in the £131 3 struck, for the purpose of reducing the present overdraft. That from and after the present date, no city works be undertaken, the cost of which will increase the amount of overdraft on general account to a sum in excess of the legal amount prescribed by the provisions of section 15C of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1876. Councillor Fisher has also given notice of the following motions : — That a committee be appointed to inquire into and report upon the proposed Te Aro Reclamation scheme, and upon tho claims of persons possessed of foreshore rights which may be affected by that scheme, with a view to the preparation of a bill to be introduced to Parliament next session to give effect to the proposed scheme. The committee to consist of his Worship tho Mayor, Councillors Diver, Moss, George, and the mover ; three to be a quorum. That separate accounts be kept at the bank showing the amounts to debit and credit of the Waterworks Account and the Drainage Account respectively in conformity with the terms of section 47 of the Waterworks Act, 1872, and section 14 of the Drainage Act, 1873.
