THE HACKER v. DALRYMPLE CASE. TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING POST.

Sir— ln the issue of your paper of the oth inst. I see that Mr. Fox is reported, on the meetiug of the House of Representatives on that day, to have asked the Minister of Justice, " whether he intended to direct a prosecution against the defendants" in the case "Hacker, v. Forbes, Dalrymple and C 0.," lately tried at the Resident Magistrate's Court at Masterton. I shall feel obliged if you will give publicity to the following facts :— At the time of the transaction out of wluch this case arose, Mr. Dalrymple had the management of the Masterton, I of the Carterton branoh of the late firm, Forbes, D,alryinple and Co. The instructions for the sale were received by Mr. Dalrymple, the whole transaction was conducted by him, and I did not know the particulars of the case until they were brought out in the course of the evidence given at the trial. I came to Carterton in September, 1876, the sale took place in the following month, October, the late firm was dissolved in January last, in consequence of differences between Mr. Dalrymple and myself, and I have not checked any of the books since.
