Tho coffee crops are likely to be very short next season. The bishops in India and Ceylon have agreed to resolutions supporting J>r. Copleston's action, and attacking tho missionary societies. A disruption. ifr anticipated. The famine is scarcely abated. Throe-quar-of a million of pcoplo are still on tho relief * works at Madras^ and a quarter of a million in Bombay. An uneasy feoling prevails amongst tho Mohammedans in Afghanistan and some parts of India about the Turkish war. Tho troaty negotiations with the Ameer of Affghanistan havo been broken off by tho Indian Government. The famine in China is yory severe, and the Goforntnont is doing nothing for the people. Tho pearl fishery in Ceylon, which has closed, has yielded £19,000. The rebellion in Japan '<> still unsubdued.
