The libel action, Ballance, of the Herald, v. Carson, of the Chronicle, lasted all day. The jury returned a verdict for the plaintiffdamage", £15. 2nd May. The following are the nominations for the Grand National Steeplechase, 150sovs:— Baker's Brilliant, Nicholson's Gazelle, Lumsdeu's Victor, Owen's Junius, Stevens and Crosbie's Greyhound, Stevenson's Jonathan Wild, Watts' Don Juan, Harrison's Cossack, Fleetwood's Deborah, Rowe's Flora, Fraser's St. Albans, and Amon's Arbitrator. Weights will be declared on the 7th May.
