DE MURSKA IN OPERA.

\ The announcement -that Madame lima de , Mureka— the greatest prima donna of Euroj pean fame who as yet has visited New I Zealand— would perform', at the Theatre Royal, two operatic scenes in character and eoitume, i attracted, as anticipated, a splendid house. Madame de Murska'B selection was peculiarly : happy, comprising the principal scenes from the two operas, in which she won the highest artistic fame, Meyerbeer's "DinOrah! 1 ' and Donizetti's "Lucia;" To enlarge on tho i numerous features presented by- her reading of these great scenes would occupy far more space than is at our disposal, and then we i should be but repeating an 'OfUtold tale. for Madame de Murska's Dinorah ana i Lucia are of world-wide celebrity. , Itrmust i suffice to cay that her ¦ , singing! and acting were beautiful in. the extreme, i alike in the " Ombra »leggiera" of AfeVerbeer and the " Alfin son tua" and " Spargi d am aro Jjianto" of Donizetti, and the applause 'Vhich bllowed was deafening—- too loud indeed to be i pleasant to the ear^-the gifted singer being recalled four times. Signor Roenttt did not • sing the romanza by Arditi set down for him, but gave instead the uninteresting " De miei bollenti" from "La Traviata." His best effort i was in the well-known "M'appari"("Marta"), ; which was capitally sung, and vociferously [ encored. &gnor Susini sang grandly in the airs from " Les Vepres Siciliennes" and '* Le Nozze di Figaro"; Mr. Hill's solos on the pianosorte and violin were admirable as ever, and Mr. Hadley played a pianoforte fantasia i on " I Lomhardi" in excellent ' style. The . "overture" by the "orchestra" could have : been dispensed with ; it was not a success. Madame de Mureka will appear again tonight for the last time, repeating (by request) the scena from '* Lucia-," and giving also the " Miserere" scene from "ll Trovatore." Signor Rosnati also will sing an English song (" When other lips," from Balfe's "Bohemian Girl,") for the first time. ' '
